Life on Lake Kashagawigamog

Plants recorded along many shores
The 2015 shoreline report says submerged aquatic plants were present at 74% of assessed properties. That measures presence, not how dense the growth was or how much swimming area it covered. Conditions vary by property and season.
Love Your Lake shoreline assessment, page 13About 11 km² · coldwater lake
The shoreline assessment describes a coldwater lake with low nutrient levels. This classification does not mean all shorelines are deep, cold or free of plants.
Love Your Lake shoreline assessment, page 4Count needs clarification
The same report gives 429 assessed properties on page 3 and 569 on page 5. We have not treated either figure as a verified lake-wide home count.
Conflicting counts in the source reportWhat to check at the waterfront
Look at the bottom underfoot, water depth at the dock, the slope into deeper water and plant growth in late summer. Ask how spring and late-season water levels affect access. A sheltered bay can feel very different from an exposed point on the same lake.

Understand the five-lake chain
The Lake Kashagawigamog Organization describes Kashagawigamog as the central lake in a chain with Head, Grass, Soyers and Canning lakes. The connection is part of the appeal, but do not infer clearance, depth or safe passage for a particular boat from a map. Check current navigation information and local conditions.
Know which municipality to call
The eastern portion near Haliburton is in Dysart et al; the western portion toward Minden is in Minden Hills. Ask the relevant municipality about the actual lot, including existing permits, septic records and any planned change in use.
Use the lake association’s records
The lake organization publishes water-quality material and shoreline resources. Read the sampling dates, locations and methods when comparing those reports with Ontario’s Lake Partner records. One clear-water measurement cannot establish swimming safety, a drinking-water supply or the condition of a septic system.
Questions for the showing
- Which side of the municipal boundary is the property on?
- What are the dated monitoring results near this shore?
- Does the intended boat suit the connections you want to use?
